Wednesday July 15th (lunch [with Jamie]): I ordered the Ham and Brie Panini with french fries, but I don't remember the name of the restaurant. The sandwich also had apples on it. I'm not sure the apples and the brie tasted that great together, but I suppose the chef knows best. The place wasn't really that fancy - you order at the register, and wait to pick up your food at the counter then go sit down - but there was a fantastic view, and the food itself was quality-looking fare (this is Sedona we're talking about), so it was around $10 per plate. The french fries were scrumdiddliumptious tho! They were like Arby's curly fries, but they weren't curly and didn't quite have that slight kick Arby's fries have.

the brie/fruit/nut combo on sandwiches is hit-or-miss for me. i had a great great great sandwich surprise the other day at an otherwise ho-hum joint in fells called the greene turtle. description from the menu: "Raspberry Turkey Flatbread -
ReplyDeleteIt starts with jerk-seasoned turkey on warm flatbread with melted cheddar-jack, sliced tomato, and red onion. Then it gets serious with our bold raspberry sauce."
I agree with Will about Nutella. Kinda gross. Also, I think that Brie is overrated, except as a name for a girl (or a pony). Give me blue cheese on anything (or in anything) and I will be happier. Or else give me something really gooey and ripe. Brie is the sad middle-ground of fancy upper-class cheese. Actually, there's probably some really good brie out there somewhere. I think I might go to Arby's for lunch today after loading up the last odds & ends of our stuff to bring to Vallejo from Stockton. All of the above conversation about sandwiches with meat & cheese basically just makes me crave Arby's cheddar melt & curly fries.
ReplyDeleteJust for the record, I would never give the name "Brie" to a girl or a pony.
ReplyDeleteAll this talk of sandwiches makes me want one too! So I am going to go get one. And Rob, I think all the good brie is in France! :D
